Leading the design and construction coordination of a large residential and agricultural property redevelopment, including renovations to the house, barn and surrounding site. Producing drawings, technical solutions and field modifications in response to existing conditions while coordinating trades, materials, schedules and construction sequencing.
Mariem Kadhim
OAA Intern Architect with professional experience across mixed-use, residential, institutional, commercial and industrial projects. The work sits between design intent and technical delivery: developing Revit documentation, coordinating consultant information, resolving details and carrying architectural ideas into constructible form.
Focused on architecture at multiple scales, from site and program to drawing, material junction and built experience. Across professional, academic and independent work, the approach is grounded in people, place, purpose and the belief that inspiring architecture depends on both imagination and technical resolution.
Selected Experience
Project Lead & Designer
Graduate Teaching Assistant
Mentored undergraduate architecture students in Indigenous Design studios, leading reviews, grading assignments and providing written and desk-crit feedback throughout project development. Supported presentation development and a hands-on site build, and supervised the school’s digital fabrication and woodworking facilities, training students in the safe operation of laser cutters and workshop equipment.
Intern Architect
Produced permit and tender documentation for institutional and mixed-use residential projects. Developed construction details, schedules and permit packages while coordinating architectural and consultant drawings.
Architectural Intern
Developed Revit and SketchUp models, architectural visualizations and presentation materials for residential projects. Also supported the office’s transition from AutoCAD-based workflows to Revit.
Architectural Graduate
Developed construction documentation, technical details and BIM models for major mixed-use and commercial projects. Coordinated consultant information, supported weekly coordination meetings and contributed to drawing production and construction-administration workflows.
Architectural Intern
Produced schematic drawings, architectural renderings and bid-support materials for early-stage architectural work.

A Few Questions
What draws you to architecture?
I am drawn to architecture that responds carefully to people, place and purpose. The strongest projects are not only conceptually clear, but also technically resolved and carried consistently from the first idea through documentation and construction.
How do you approach your work?
I begin by understanding the larger purpose of the project, the immediate task and the information needed to move it forward. I work methodically, establish priorities early and test decisions against design intent, technical requirements and constructability. I also communicate questions and potential conflicts before they become larger problems.
What do you bring to a project team?
I bring more than four years of experience across mixed-use, residential, institutional and commercial projects, with particular strength in Revit documentation, BIM coordination and technical detailing. I am organized, collaborative and comfortable working through complex information with architects, consultants and construction teams.
How do you use BIM in your workflow?
I use BIM as both a documentation tool and a shared coordination environment. In Revit, I organize models and drawing sets carefully, coordinate architectural information with consultant models, identify inconsistencies and maintain continuity between plans, sections, details and schedules. I see BIM as a way to improve communication and reduce uncertainty throughout the project.
How do you approach technical coordination?
I consider how an issue affects the project as a whole rather than treating it as an isolated drawing problem. I compare the model, drawings, consultant information, specifications and site conditions, then work toward a resolution that is coordinated, buildable and consistent with the design intent.
What are you looking for next?
I am looking for a collaborative architectural practice where design thinking and technical development are equally valued. I want to contribute meaningfully across project phases, continue strengthening my construction knowledge and progress toward architectural licensure.
Let’s continue the conversation.
I am currently open to opportunities where I can contribute across design development, technical documentation and project coordination while continuing to grow toward architectural licensure.
