Mariem Kadhim

OAA INTERN ARCHITECT · M.ARCH · MRAIC · LEED GREEN ASSOCIATE · RIBA PART 1

OAA Intern Architect with professional experience across mixed-use, residential, institutional, commercial, and industrial projects. My work sits between design intent and technical delivery: developing Revit documentation, coordinating consultant information, resolving details, and carrying architectural ideas into constructible form.

Focused on architecture at multiple scales, from site and program to drawing, material junction, and built experience. Across professional and research-led work, my approach is grounded in people, place, purpose, and the belief that strong architecture depends on both imagination and technical resolution.

A Few Questions

01

What draws you to architecture?

I am drawn to architecture that responds carefully to people, place and purpose. The strongest projects are not only conceptually clear, but also technically resolved and carried consistently from the first idea through documentation and construction.

02

How do you approach your work?

I begin by understanding the larger purpose of the project, the immediate task and the information needed to move it forward. I work methodically, establish priorities early and test decisions against design intent, technical requirements and constructability. I also communicate questions and potential conflicts before they become larger problems.

03

What do you bring to a project team?

I bring experience across mixed-use, residential, institutional, and commercial projects, with particular strength in Revit documentation, BIM coordination, and technical detailing. I am organized, collaborative, and comfortable working through complex information with architects, consultants, and construction teams.

04

How do you use BIM in your workflow?

I use BIM as both a documentation tool and a shared coordination environment. In Revit, I organize models and drawing sets carefully, coordinate architectural information with consultant models, identify inconsistencies and maintain continuity between plans, sections, details and schedules. I see BIM as a way to improve communication and reduce uncertainty throughout the project.

05

How do you approach technical coordination?

I consider how an issue affects the project as a whole rather than treating it as an isolated drawing problem. I compare the model, drawings, consultant information, specifications and site conditions, then work toward a resolution that is coordinated, buildable and consistent with the design intent.

06

What are you looking for next?

I am looking for a full-time role in a collaborative architectural practice where design thinking and technical development are equally valued. I am especially interested in studios working across mixed-use, residential, cultural, and urban-scale projects, where I can contribute through concept design, design development, BIM documentation, visualization, coordination, and construction-phase problem-solving.

Let’s continue the conversation.

I am currently open to opportunities where I can contribute across design development, technical documentation and project coordination while continuing to grow toward architectural licensure.
